Alan Marr - 1973 to 1974
These were mostly taken in the Turtle Club sometime between Aug 73 and May 74.
I worked part time as a barman in the club and also had a radio show on Radio 65.The Victor is one of the last B2's on it's way back to UK and the C130 pic has two Andovers in the background, there used to be a permanent detachment from 46Sqn Thorney Island out there at that time.
I really can't remember who the people are except for image where the guy in the middle with a white shirt could be Steve Flinders. I think they are mostly comcen guys at a Maa'salaam.

Brian King - 1958
Brian said "I was based there for six months in the summer of 1958 and was a medic in the SSQ. I went there after serving in the RAF hospital at Steamer point and SSQ at RAF Khormaksar."
N.B. DJR - Very lucky that he spent the summer in Masirah, saved him having to bring all of his winter clothing!

George Edwards, Fire Section - 1967-68
George is writing a book about his exploits and sent in these couple of photos. One is of the football team during his time there and the other is a dodgy Rhino lighter.
Peter Pressland - Vulcan Detachments in 1973 and 1974
I visited RAF Masirah twice on detachment with Vulcans from Akrotiri. 73 as a Cpl and 74 as a Sgt.
The photos are of a safari on the back of a couple of 5 ton trucks, giving drinking water to the locals, Sgts mess Crab race evening and a kind of fishing trip.
Hope these are of general interest and would love to hear from anyone who remembers these times.
All the photos were taken sometime in 1973.
Ian McDonald - 1971-72
Rich Constant - During his RAF Career Rich passed through Masirah on his way to UK from Gan, in 1972, but did not serve on Masirah as a posting.
However, after demob he was in Oman for 4 years before being sent to Masirah and spent 12 years there until his retirement. He has some recent photographs which he has kindly sent in to be published on the website.
Most people on this site will be astounded at some of these views. I'm looking forward to receiving more photos from Rich so please come back now and again to review any new ones.
Some comments from Rich can be found on the forum -

Thank's to Colin for sending these photographs to replace the tiny files that I downloaded from Dave Cromb's Masirah WEBS website. If you know anyone else that has a gallery in the archive gallery please let them know that I need to replace them with larger, original, files.
