This page is dedicated to Masirah Island, Residents and the FB page run by Hannah Wilson.
Hamdi bin Humaid bin Ali Al Wahaibi Hamdi lives and works on Masirah Island, we all know what that is like and one of the reasons we feel so attached to Masirah and Oman in General. The photographs of the copper smelting pits date back from Roman or even Phoenician times so are very ancient. Some wonderful, and historic, photographs below from Hamdi which I publish with his permission and for which I am very grateful.
The first RAF building was erected in 1936 and survived until recently. Thanks to Hamdi for sending these photographs to me for the website. The building is now, thanks to wind, cyclones, rain, a heap of dissolving bricks.
