Battle of Mirbat, Dhofar
This plaque is located at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, in the UK.
Taken by the son of Dennis Cox and kindly sent to me by Vic Redmond, committee member of the RAF Masirah and RAF Salalah Oman Veterans Association.

My friend Al Jopling and I were in training together as telegraphists, 303 Entry RAF Cosford May 1965 to April 1966.
In March 1972 Al was posted to Masirah and then to Salalah in the June until December 72.
Al has sent me his blood donation record page for the day of the Battle of Mirbat. He was off duty when the call went out for blood donations to assist in the treatment of the wounded from the Battle. Al was one of those that leapt to respond to the call.
Well done Al, and all others that responded to this emergency callout.

Al Jopling - Masirah Mar-Jun 72 / Salalah Jun-Dec 72

I was in Masirah March to June '72 and then posted down to Salalah as they needed a sooper dooper wop until December '72 - a whole 9 months (lol). I remember vividly the day the SAS were taking a hiding from the Addu in the July because it was the first time I had ever given blood!!

Jim Joyner

Jim's Father (also Jim) was at Salalah for about twelve months in 1960-61 while the family remained at St Eval in Cornwall.
The photographs below were sent in by Jim.
