Kevin Banks 1975-76 Kevin has sent so many photographs I thought he deserved a page all to himself.
A few words from Kevin about his time in Masirah;
"
I was a Transport Aircraft Servicing Specialist within VASS in the rank of Sgt having spent 15 months at RAF Brize Norton and RAF Lyneham covering the route servicing of the VC10, Britannia, Belfast and Hercules aircraft . My trade was actually an Air Radar Fitter, but I seemed to spend most of the time in general aircraft handling and FORM 700 compiling. The shift rotation was such that we worked one morning (day break) one afternoon (till aircraft prep for next day) and then one day off, which permitted us to act as ground engineers within Oman for the thrice weekly Hercules from the UK which covered all the bases in Oman at which we had servicemen. The Masirah highlight of the week was of course the Monday 16 00hrs, VC10 from the UK which had Air Stewardesses on board. The original plan was that an Transport Aircraft Servicing Specialist would complete an unaccompanied tour followed by a an accompanied tour in either Cyprus or Singapore, but due to the withdrawals I returned to RAF Cosford in my previous role as an Air Radar Instructor. While at RAF Masirah I belonged to the Photograph Club and the Hobbies Club."
